eBay Live Launches in the UK

(Credit: eBay.co.uk)

On May 23, 2025, eBay.co.uk customers received an email with the subject line, “A new way to shop: eBay Live has launched,” announcing the debut of eBay Live and inviting users to experience real-time auctions and livestream shopping on eBay for the first time.

eBay Live has officially launched in the UK, debuting at MCM London Comic Con this weekend, May 23 to May 25, 2025. eBay Live is an interactive livestream shopping platform where UK-registered users can now join real-time auctions and Buy It Now events hosted by influencers, brands, and sellers, all accessible through the eBay app. To participate, you must be signed in to your eBay account, and your activity, including username and bidding, will be visible to other attendees, with both standard and extended auctions available and seller moderation tools in place. This ambitious move follows eBay’s Q1 2025 earnings report, which highlighted a $2.6 billion revenue quarter and revealed that trading cards are the platform’s fastest-growing category.

The surge is fuelled by the sale of over 500,000 PSA-graded cards since eBay’s integration with PSA began in late 2024—the globally recognised leader in trading card grading and authentication.

Market confidence is high, the secondary market is robust, and eBay’s latest innovation could fuel even more growth for the UK hobby.

Following a delay in release that left collectors uncertain, Panini Select Premier League has returned for season 2024/25, finally released on May 22, 2025.

Panini Select Premier League 2024/25 has officially dropped, marking the final chapter for Select in the EPL before Topps takes over the Premier League license next season. Heung-min Son: Captain’s Triumph, Card Prices in Play

Following last week’s Card Watch spotlight on Cole Palmer, I’m staying in the Premier League to feature Heung-min Son, who just captained Tottenham Hotspur to their first silverware since 2008.

Since signing for Spurs in August 2015 for £22 million, Heung-min Son’s card journey has mirrored his rise on the pitch—starting as a budget buy, increasing demand with every milestone, and value now cemented by securing long-awaited silverware. As Son’s star has steadily risen, so has his card chase: for example his 2019/20 Panini Prizm Black 1/1 and 2022/23 Topps Dynasty Patch Auto Gold 1/1 set new benchmarks with sales exceeding £6K, while his Kaboom! cards may offer the raw-to-grade play for shrewd investors. Now, due to Spurs’ Europa League triumph, Son’s 2024/25 Topps Chrome cards—proudly stamped with the Europa League logo—are poised to be the store of value as the set finds its market.

As always, collectors have options: entry-level, mid-tier, or grail, but all signs point to Son’s latest Chrome cards being the ones to hold long term.

Below, I’ve used Card Ladder data to showcase a range of options that highlight the potential value available to collectors across all budgets.
