Behind the Cards

London Card Show Continues to Grow

(Credit: The London Card Show)

Europe’s largest card show returns this weekend, May 10-11, 2025, as Harry Reynolds and his team transform months of planning into a buzzing weekend for collectors, families, and industry giants.

The London Card Show started in 2021 with just 10 tables and 40 attendees, growing exponentially over a four-year period into a two-floor spectacle. This weekend’s sold out event will host 7,000 visitors, 400+ vendor tables, a VIP lounge, kids’ zone, retro gaming, and headline sponsors such as Topps and Whatnot. Vendors and collectors from across the continent will trade, connect, and celebrate the UK hobby’s booming growth, while the main stage, exclusive zones, and interactive features will keep the energy high and the collecting community at the heart of it all.

The London Card Show’s evolution is a testament to innovation and a shared passion for cards, with every detail, from the TCG floor to family-friendly spaces, designed to raise the bar.

The 2024/25 Topps Juventus Team Set, released on May 1, 2025, celebrates the legacy of ‘The Old Lady’ by showcasing Juventus’ current stars alongside legendary figures from the club’s illustrious history

Hot on the heels of the recent release of Manchester United and Real Madrid Team Sets, the Juventus Team Set follows a similar formula, with a base set featuring the current squad, themed base subsets, inserts, and plenty of high calibre autograph chasers. The base rookie inclusions are Nicolò Savona, Juan Cabal, Jonas Rouhi, Vasilije Adžić, and Samuel Mbangula, and inserts are listed as Pathway, Rainbow Flick, and Le Zebre, which pays tribute to club legends such as Gianluigi Buffon, Pavel Nedvěd, and Alessandro Del Piero. Big chasers include the Bonafide Baller Autograph Variations and My Club Autograph Relics, with big signers such as Zlatan Ibrahimović, Zinédine Zidane, Thierry Henry and Patrick Vieira.

Each box contains 6 packs of 5 cards, featuring one static foil parallel, one sequentially numbered parallel, and one autograph, relic, or autograph relic card per box.

The box is priced at £80 and remains available on the Topps UK website.

Kevin De Bruyne: Legacy of a Maestro

After last week’s Card Watch feature on Bukayo Saka, I remain in the Premier League for analysis of outgoing Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne, who departs English football with six Premier League titles and 119 assists to his name (second all-time), cementing his place amongst the Premier League’s greatest.

De Bruyne leaves Manchester City as a club legend, with Pep Guardiola calling him, “one of the greatest midfielders ever to have played in this country”, however the value of his cards may not yet fully reflect his legacy, perhaps presenting investment opportunity for collectors. Internationally, De Bruyne has been the heartbeat of Belgium’s golden generation, earning over 100 caps and starring in three World Cups, including Belgium’s run to third place in 2018. If you’re on a budget, his Panini Prizm World Cup 2018 #17 Silver Prizm (PSA 10) is valued at just £34, making it an accessible entry point for any collector. If seeking a store of value, Manchester City’s successful 2022/23 Champions League campaign may offer opportunities, for example De Bruyne’s Topps Museum UEFA Champions League 2022/23 cards may offer untapped value. For my usual weekly raw-to-grade pick, I’ve chosen the 2020/21 Panini Prizm Premier League Kaboom! #11, a card that perfectly captures De Bruyne at his peak, and is currently undervalued according to Card Ladder.

As he prepares to leave Manchester, De Bruyne’s legacy as one of the Premier League’s greatest ever midfielders is secure, so if you want a piece of football history, his cards offer a way to own the legacy of a generational player.

Below, I’ve used Card Ladder data to showcase a range of options that highlight the potential value available to collectors across all budgets.
