Behind the Cards
Topps Takes the Lead

College Football Hall of Fame, Atlanta, Georgia
The 2025 Topps Industry Conference took place this week at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta, Georgia, wrapping up on Tuesday, April 29, 2025.
Topps confirmed they will take over exclusive Premier League rights starting June 1, 2025, as well as NBA and NFL card licenses, launching official NBA products from October 2025 and NFL products from April 2026. New product innovations were also unveiled, such as standardised parallel ‘rainbow’ numbering across products, in response to collector feedback. Topps also responded to the growing popularity of non-sports releases, with expanded plans for Disney, Marvel, Star Wars, and Stranger Things card sets.
Under Fanatics’ ownership, Topps aren’t just keeping pace with competitors, they are rewriting the rules as the global powerhouse in trading cards.

Topps Decades 1990s UEFA Club Competitions!

Topps Decades 1990s UEFA Club Competitions dropped exclusively at Fanatics Collectibles London store last weekend, a nostalgic 8-bit themed card set.
Expect a who’s-who checklist of 1990s legends in this exciting new release, as Topps celebrate an era of flamboyant kits, Predator boots, and wild hairstyles. However this set is no joke, and is packed with big-name signers, including Partnership dual auto cards featuring: Dwight Yorke / Andy Cole; Marco van Basten / Ruud Gullit; and Ronaldo / Rivaldo. Other sought-after chasers are the Retro Relic autos, featuring 90s icons such as Davor Suker, Francesco Totti, Gianfranco Zola, and Paul Gascoigne, and Triple Threat auto cards featuring Franco Baresi / Alessandro Costacurta / Paolo Maldini; and Clarence Seedorf / Patrick Kluivert / Jari Litmanen.
Each hobby box contains 6 packs of 6 cards, including one autograph and three numbered parallel cards per box.
The hobby box was priced at £90 at Fanatics Collectibles London store, but has since sold out, and will be officially released on the Topps UK website on 6 May, 2025.

Bukayo Saka: From Rookie Gem to Hobby Icon
Pivoting from last week’s Card Watch feature on Mo Salah, on the day that Liverpool clinched their historic 20th league title, this week I feature Champions League semi-finalist Bukayo Saka, whose card journey mirrors his rise from Arsenal wonderkid to global star.
Saka’s journey through cards began in season 2019/20, when his cards featuring the coveted Panini ‘RC’ logo quietly entered the market. The most accessible authentic Saka rookie card may be the 2019/20 Panini Chronicles Soccer Pitch Kings Rookie #R4-5, whilst the outstanding 2019/20 Panini Impeccable Rookie Metal /50 #RM2, commands over £2,000 at PSA 10 grade. Both cards are featured below, alongside my usual weekly raw-to-grade opportunity, for which I have selected Saka’s colour-matched 2020/21 Panini Prizm Premier League Red Mojo /135 #40. With four goals already for England at major tournaments, my international inclusion is Saka’s Panini Prizm World Cup 2022 Color Wheel #6 (PSA 10) which sits comfortably at around £300, matching its lifetime average.
Saka’s cards have evolved from affordable rookies to true hobby grails, so whether you’re hunting for a bargain, grading for profit, or chasing true scarcity, the Saka market offers a lane for every collector.
Below, I’ve used Card Ladder data to showcase a range of options that highlight the potential value available to collectors across all budgets.
