Fanatics Shake Up Repack Market

Fanatics Collectibles have surprised the hobby by entering the repack market, a space traditionally dominated by secondary sellers.

With their recent announcement of Instant Rips, as part of the debut series Odyssey, breakers on the Fanatics Live platform will open digital packs that correspond to matching physical cards stored in their Fanatics Collect vault. 1,000 packs will be available at $250 each, with card values ranging from $90 to $3,800, and ownership will be instantly transferred to the buyer, who can then choose to keep the card or sell it on the Fanatics Collect marketplace. Fanatics assert that their entry into the repack market will introduce professionalism and consistency, enhancing the customer experience in an area often impacted by inconsistent product quality.

Fanatics’ innovative repack strategy is clever and appealing, but ultimately its success will be determined by the market’s appetite for a more polished, transparent alternative to secondary market repacks.

2024/25 Topps UEFA Club Competitions Simplicidad!

Topps have released the next installment of their hugely popular UEFA Club Competitions series.

The eagerly awaited Spain-exclusive 2024/25 Topps UEFA Club Competitions Simplicidad was officially released on March 7, 2025. With its distinctive black-and-white aesthetic, intended to represent simplicity, Simplicidad’s 157-card set features seven elegant card designs which are sure to appeal to collectors. The chase rookies promoted by Topps in their product description are Mickey Moore (Spurs), Endrick (Real Madrid), Noah Darvich (Barcelona), and Gerard Martín (Barcelona). Whilst the product looks stunning, it could be argued the ‘rookie’ definition has been somewhat stretched to compensate for a lack of a genuine superstar such as Lamine Yamal, who sent demand for last year’s products soaring. To me, Endrick’s Rated Rookie card in a Palmeiras kit from Panini Donruss Soccer 2023/24 feels more authentic, whereas 23-year-old Gerard Martín, despite his recent rise with Barcelona, seems like a reach given his substantial playing time with UE Cornellà in the Spanish third tier.

Each box will contain 6 packs of 6 cards, and the product promises to deliver one autograph per box, an upgrade on previous years’ hit rates of one autograph per two boxes.

Simplicidad was reasonably priced at €100.00 per box, and available from March 7, 2025 to March 21, 2025 on the Topps Spain website, however sold out quickly, and is listed at £150+ on the secondary market as buyers await delivery.

Jude Bellingham: Collectors Seek England’s Brightest Talent

The 2020/21 season marked Jude Bellingham’s explosive arrival on the global football scene, and his rookie cards in the Topps Chrome UEFA Champions League set provide a compelling snapshot of a rising star.

Season 2020/21 saw Bellingham become Borussia Dortmund’s youngest-ever goalscorer as he shone in the Bundesliga and Champions League at just 17-years-old. Following my analysis of Yamine Yamal, Kylian Mbappé, and Erling Haaland, Bellingham was the natural next focus for my Card Watch section, having now firmly established himself with Real Madrid as one of the brightest talents in world football. Therefore, Bellingham’s 2020/21 Topps Chrome UEFA Champions League cards, which feature the coveted Topps ‘RC’ rookie logo, are deserving of further analysis.

Notably, four of the top five highest-priced Jude Bellingham card sales have originated from the 2020/21 Topps Chrome UEFA Champions League set, including the record-breaking sale of a Superfractor 1/1 in PSA 9 condition for £30,492 in October 2022.
